When they take long to reply, I start thinking something is wrong.

How this attachment style test works

The test has 12 short statements about how you feel and act when you text and date. You answer how true each one is for you. Half of the statements measure anxiety (how much you worry about being left) and half measure avoidance (how uncomfortable you are with closeness). Your two scores together place you in one of four styles.

This idea of two dimensions comes from adult attachment research. Our version is short and made for texting situations, so treat it as a fun self-check, not a clinical test.

The 4 attachment styles

  • Secure: low anxiety, low avoidance. You are comfortable with closeness and with space.
  • Anxious: high anxiety, low avoidance. You want closeness and fear being left.
  • Avoidant: low anxiety, high avoidance. You value independence and pull back when things get close.
  • Fearful-avoidant: high anxiety, high avoidance. You want closeness but also fear it.

## FAQ

How accurate is an online attachment style test?

A short online test can give you a useful direction, but it can't replace a long questionnaire or a talk with a professional. Your answers can also change with your mood and your current relationship.

Can my attachment style change?

Yes. Many people become more secure over time, especially in a stable relationship or with therapy.

What is the rarest attachment style?

Fearful-avoidant is usually the least common of the four styles in research studies.
