What a Snapchat chat analyzer does
Snapchat is built to forget. Messages vanish, streaks come and go, and you are left with a feeling about the chat but no real picture of it.
A chat analyzer reads the chat history that Snapchat kept and counts. Who writes more. Who starts the conversations. Who replies in seconds and who leaves you waiting. Then the AI part reads the tone and tells you what the patterns might mean.

Your Snapchat Wrapped, for one friend
Snapchat does not give you a "Wrapped" for a single friend. There is no screen that shows how many messages you two sent, who always texts first or what words you use the most.
This page gives you that. Think of it as a Snapchat Wrapped for one chat: your numbers side by side, plus an AI verdict on what is really going on. It works best with a friend you save chats with a lot, because saved chats are what Snapchat keeps.
How to export Snapchat chats (step by step)
Snapchat has no "export chat" button inside a conversation. Instead, you ask Snapchat for a copy of your data. You can do this in the app or on a computer.
In the Snapchat app:
- Tap your Profile icon in the top left.
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Scroll down to Privacy Controls and tap My Data.
On a computer: go to accounts.snapchat.com, log in and click My Data.
Then, on the My Data page:
- Tick Export JSON Files. HTML is the default, but the analyzer reads JSON. You can tick both if you want to read the HTML yourself too.
- Select at least Chat History. You can untick the other things to keep the file small.
- Set the date range to cover your whole chat, or turn the date filter off to get everything.
- Check your email address and tap Submit.
Snapchat changes small things in its menus from time to time. If a label looks a little different on your screen, pick the closest one.
Snapchat chat history download: wait for the email
Snapchat prepares the file in the background. It can take from a few minutes to a day or more, depending on how much data you have.
When it is ready, Snapchat sends you an email with a download link. You can also find it on the My Data page under See exports. Download the zip, ideally on a computer, because the upload is easier there.
Upload the zip and pick your friend
- Go to thecringe.app/analyze.
- Upload the whole zip as it is. You don't need to unzip it. If you did unzip it, you can upload the file json/chat_history.json instead.
- Your Snapchat chat history holds chats with many friends, so the site shows a list. Pick the person you want to analyze.
- Wait a few seconds for your stats.

The big limit: Snapchat only keeps saved chats
This is the most important part, so please read it before you trust the numbers.
- Only saved chats are in the export. By default, Snapchat deletes chat messages after they are opened. Those messages are gone, and they are not in your download. You get the messages someone saved, plus messages that were not deleted yet.
- The stats only cover what Snapchat kept. If you rarely save chats, the report shows a small part of your real conversation. A friend who "never texts first" might just be a friend whose messages you never saved.
- Snaps are not chat text. Photo and video Snaps are not messages the analyzer can read, so they don't count.
- Erased messages show as deleted. If someone cleared a message they sent, it shows up as a deleted message, without the text.
- You see usernames. The download uses Snapchat usernames, not display names, so the list and the report show usernames.
So use the report as a picture of your saved Snapchat chat history, not of every message you ever sent. If you want a fuller picture of someone, and you also talk on WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram, analyze that chat too.
What the Snapchat chat report shows
The report puts both people side by side. For each person, you see:
- Messages sent: the total count for each side
- First message date: the oldest saved message in the chat
- Average reply time: how long each person usually takes to answer
- Who texts first: who starts conversations more often
- Longest message: the biggest wall of text each person sent
- Top words: the words each person uses most
The AI report goes deeper. It gives:
- An interest level for each person
- Attachment styles (anxious, avoidant or secure)
- Red flags, with real quotes from your chat
- A final verdict on what is going on

Is the Snapchat chat history viewer private?
Here is what happens to your chat:
- The stats are computed in your browser.
- The website saves an encrypted copy of the chat you upload, so you can reopen your report later. You can delete it any time in My reports.
- For the AI report, a sample of messages goes to our AI provider, with phone numbers, emails and links removed.
- We never sell your chats.
How to read your Snapchat chat stats
- Think about what was saved. If one person saves more chats, they can look more active than they are.

- Who texts first matters. Read who texts first and what it says.
- Silence has many reasons. If you feel left on read, look at the pattern over weeks, not one evening.
